City of Petersburg Real Estate Tax Bill Alert
The City of Petersburg would like to inform property owners of an issue that occurred during the recent mailing of Real Estate tax bills, which are due on March 31, 2026. Typically, our third-party vendor separates tax bills into two categories: one for property owners who receive their bills directly and another for those whose mortgage companies handle tax payments. Unfortunately, during this cycle, the third-party vendor did not follow the standard protocol, resulting in all Real Estate tax bills being mailed directly to property owners, including those with active mortgage codes.
We understand that this may cause confusion for property owners whose mortgage companies typically manage their tax payments. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure future mailings are handled correctly.
Although this situation was unintentional, it offers an important benefit. By receiving a copy of the Real Estate tax bill, every property owner can see the status of their taxes. In recent months, the City has identified several cases in which mortgage companies failed to remit quarterly payments as expected, leaving residents unaware of unpaid balances. Providing every property owner with a bill helps identify potential issues early.
The City of Petersburg remains committed to accurate communication, proactive service, and support for our residents and property owners. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Petersburg Customer Care and Collections Department at:
